All papers will be approximately 5 pages in length.
12 point font, Double Spaced and 1 inch margins. Use a traditional font and use black ink.
This counts the body of the work, not the cover page or the bibliography (cover pages not
necessary).
All papers must be submitted to Canvas to receive credit.
Please submit them in PDF format and know that the manner in which I receive them is how
they will be graded.
Know that all papers will run through a plagiarism check through Canvas.
Any paper flagged for having 25 percent or more unoriginal material will receive a grade
penalty, regardless of whether or not plagiarism was found

Pressse Description: The continued development of modern medical technology has resulted in many
serious ethical dilemmas to surface. Uncertainties surrounding such practices as abortion, euthanasia,
and cloning have led to heated ethical conflicts, with more arising with each new technology. Sadly, few
people possess the necessary background in ethical theory, and a strong enough understanding of
contemporary medicine to make an informed judgment. This class will attempt to address this. Students
will learn about the many ethical systems we use to judge the moral character of an act, and learn about
the various elements of certain controversial medical procedures. Should doctors be allowed to assist
patients who want to die? What are the limits we are willing to allow desperate couples to take in having
children? Do fetuses have a right to life? How far should humans be allowed to augment their bodies
beyond their natural limitations? All these questions and more will be examined through many theoretical
lenses.
