Review the concept of “Six Sigma” in Chapters 9, 10, 12 and 14 of the Managing for Quality and Performance Excellence text. Prepare and submit a 4-page (minimum) paper.
Assume that your senior manager tasked you to investigate Six Sigma — what is it? Why do it? Write a summary (1-2 pages) for your manager. Be professional, clear, and concise.
Then do some research on Six Sigma (textbook, library, or internet). What is a Six Sigma Black Belt? A Green Belt? How would you get certified as a Black Belt or Green Belt? Who performs the certification? What knowledge, skills, and experience are required? (1-2 pages)
Finally, interview a Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt and ask them about the value of the certification to the person and to the organization. If a Black Belt or Green Belt is not available to you, do some research (textbook or on-line) to see what role a Black Belt or Green Belt has or might play in an organization that values quality management. (1 page)
