Personal Experience Speaking AssignmentFor this speech the student will pick from a variety of “get your feet wet” speeches. The goal here is to get everyone up and talking and using the basic speech outline given out in class. Visual aids are not required but may be used. (Time Limit: 3-5 minutes) Speech = 100 points Outline = 25 points chapter 2 in your text provides an overview of the entire speech writing process. Topic Choice Options:1. The most influential person in your life.2. The most important invention of the last century.3. The most interesting job you ever had.4. The most fascinating trip you ever took.5. Pet PeeveBasic Outline: This is a very simple version of the outline format we will be using this semester. I want to keep this simple and clear for your first speech. We will add more details as we progress.
Central Idea: The main focus of your speech.
I. Introduction.
Thesis Statement: One sentence that is the central idea of the entire speech. b. Preview Statement:
One sentence in which you list the points you will cover to support the central idea.
II. Body. Main point One: One sentence each for the main points. This is just the outline or skeleton of the speech you will, of course, say much more than this, but this is your plan.

Review of Main points: Simply summarize the points you presented.Visual “Presentational” Aids:You are not required to have a visual aid, but if you feel that pictures or objects would enhance your presentation you may use them. However, remember these guidelines: Do not pass the items around the room. If it is a photo, use the projector.
 No weapons, alcohol or live animals may be used as visual aids
