I Mr A is writing this reference on behalf of C J, who is a current final year student on the BSc (Hons) Child and Family Health and Wellbeing and is in the process of applying for the MA in Social Work. Having taught C J for the last 2 years as her lecturer, stage 3 coordinator and assistant programme leader, I have come to know her well. C J is a calm and thoughtful individual with an ability to communicate effectively with her peers and academics. She has a considered mature, caring nature which inspires confidence and continues to reflect on her practice and seeks to improve this where ever possible. Over her previous 2 years of study, C J has undertaken many modules which developed her skills and which will be relevant to this master’s course. She has completed the following modules all of which are of particular relevance: Level 4: Child development and health. Reflective practice Social pedagogy Antidiscriminatory practice Family, community, society Protecting and safeguarding Level 5: Health and nutrition ‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌ Integrated working Family mental health and parenting Family learning Research methods Creative approaches The following modules are what C J is currently taking: Level 6: Managing and leading work with children and families Independent study Complex health needs in children Resourcing and social enterprise Practice placement Throughout her assessments, C J has been tested not only in her ability to write an excellent academic essay, but also to produce social media campaigns, posters, presentations, developing a deliverable learning experience and providing positive outcomes for children and families, and participate in role-playing and simulation. She excelled at all of these methods. Apart from being dedicated and hard-working, C J has a range of skills and the ability to succeed not only academically but also professionally, and she has demonstrated that she wants to make a positive contribution and difference to people’s lives. I have no doubt that she would be an asset to your course. She is an enthusiastic student and works hard but seems to genuinely enjoy learning and her chosen career path. I wish her the best of luck in her career and wholeheartedly support her application for the MA in Social Wo‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌rk.
