SCENARIO OVERVIEW:
Shane Peterson, a 15-year-old African-American male, has come to the clinic today for his school physical
(blood work drawn three days ago). Shane will be entering high school this fall as a freshman, where he
participates in track and field and swimming. Shane and his family have recently moved to this town from
across the country due to Shane’s father being transferred for his job. This is Shane’s first visit to the clinic and
he is accompanied by his father, Frank
