When you do the readings and write your assignment this week, I would like you to think about this question in terms of ideas and identities. Also be sure to explore how norms or normative structure shape states’ behaviors in international relations? In terms of pure military power, Britain’s military forces are far superior to those of North Korea or Iran. According to the realists’ arguments (survival concern and power competition in the anarchical structure of the international politics), the U.S. should worry more about the Britain’s power than that of North Korean and Iran. But the US is concerned when North Korea or Iran attempts to build nuclear weapons, but not by Great Britain’s possession of such weapons.
