Please select an agency or institution that serves older adults, for example, a nursing home, day program, or a senior center (do not feel limited to these choices). Locate two programming sites in your area that you can arrange to visit. During your visits, observe and ask questions to be able to describe each program in your paper:
a) The physical environment of the program site, it’s funding, and its staffing patterns
b) The background and training of staff
c) The daily schedule (service delivery)
d) The philosophy of service delivery (brochures often provide some of this information, but your conversation with staff may yield alternative views)
e) Your own reactions to what you observe.
Next, students should address:
f) The pros and cons of the approaches of the program
g) Based on your growing understanding of the needs of older adults, how the program could be improved. Be specific in your recommendations.
Structure your paper to answer all of these points and your proofread paper should be 7-10 pages (excluding the title page and reference).
