POETIC FORM

For this assignment, you should experiment with poetic form.

You may want to use a traditional poetic form, such as the sonnet or haiku. In this case, try writing either one sonnet (using the guidelines for the sonnet form here: Poetic Form-SONNET) OR three haiku (using the guidelines for the haiku form here: Poetic Form-HAIKU).

OR you may want to experiment with form on the page as J. Michael Martinez does in his 2010 book, Heredities. Here are a couple of examples, “Water Poppies Open as the Mouth” or “Xicano”…
