-Discuss pre-op and post-op procedure/protocol and how other research studies have improved their cardac rehabilation program. For examples: some hospitals discuss with patients prior to procedure the lifestyle changes that need to be made (diet, exercise, follow-ups and new medication regime). Post-op patients are motivated to ambulate (get out-of-bed to chair and then walking as soon as possible), they are taught breathing methods and how to cough to avoid pain after surgery–basically physical and occupational therapy post-op.
