Study the magazine’s requirements, format and style. Make a checklist
to refer to along with the academic requirements. Read and study the magazine
to see the requirements in action so you have a full understanding of how to
write for the specific magazine.
Don’t write from a distant perspective; write like you are discussing
the subject to a group of readers.
Keep your attention on who you are writing to (i.e. if you are writing
to trainers continue to put the context of your writing from a trainer’s point
of view throughout your text, connecting to the interests of the subject).
Writing to a broad audience is not what magazines do; they write to a
specific reader: i.e., trainers, business professionals, leaders, industry
specific personnel, pastors, etc.
Know your audience and readers.
