You have been working in the occupational safety field for more than 12 years. You just started working at XYZ Chemical Industries eight months ago. Recently, the company has experienced safety issues. A process safety management system (PSM) has never been fully designed and implemented at the company, which went into business two years ago.
Because of your experience, you have been assigned to lead a task force that will design and implement an updated PSM system for your place of employment. Before working on the actual design, however, you will have to research what will need to be addressed by your system and how it will be addressed.
Write a paper in which you answer the following questions.
What methodologies are available for conducting a process hazard analysis? Which methodology would work best in your newly designed PSM system? Why?
Describe the process you would use to document how process equipment will be inspected and tested.
Discuss the pre-startup safety review (PSSR) process. How will it be used in your system as a control measure for hazards?
What are the requirements for implementing a PSM system?
Your paper must be at least two pages in length. You must use at least three outside sources; one of them can be the textbook, and at least one source must be from the CSU Online Library. Adhere to APA Style when creating citations and references for this assignment. APA formatting, however, is not necessary.
