In this paper, students will discuss how they have integrated their learning into their educational and
professional pursuits. Students should include reflection on their development of:
psychological foundations in major schools of thought in psychology and models of human
behavior and interaction,
professional identity and goals (including commitment to ethical practice and service),
diverse and global perspective, and
critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal therapeutic skills.
Students may also choose to reflect on their future professional goals and preliminary plans of how they
may achieve them.
Paper Format
The Professional Development Reflection Paper must be five (5) to six (6) pages in body
length (not including title page and references, if used), double-spaced in 12pt Times New
Roman font, one-inch margins on all sides, and follow all other applicable APA formatting and
style guidelines. This paper does not need an Abstract. Practically speaking, this means that a
paper that is less than 5 full pages in body will not evaluate higher than approaching standards.
The difference between a paper that meets standards and one that exceeds standards is generally
determined by the quality of the writing, and not the quantity beyond fulfilling the expected page
requirement.
Although this paper should maintain a formal tone, students are encouraged to write the paper in
first-person. Students are responsible for using the CityU Library resources for more information
and guidance in college-level writing. This is a human development course, and not a writing
course; so, students are responsible for meeting the standards of college-level writing.
