Abstract
The budget is the financial expression of the project and should accurately reflect the costs of the proposed research/education/service program. The budget justification provides the sponsor agency and reviewers of the application with information such as why costs are programmatically necessary and how they are calculated.
Assignment
This assignment has two parts.
1. First, develop a sample program budget. In your report, provide justification for each line item in your budget. For example, do not simply write “$500 for office supplies.” What exactly are you purchasing (e.g. printer, ink, paper for handouts, 50 pencils for attendees, etc)? Be specific.
2. Second, create your program schedule (timeline) as a Gantt Chart. This chart lists the tasks to be performed on the vertical axis, and time intervals on the horizontal axis. The width of the horizontal bars in the graph shows the duration of each activity. This can be completed on Excel, Microsoft Word, or various websites online.
I have included a sample for your reference (this is only a sample; it is not all-inclusive nor was it given a 100% grade).
