You are the project manager on a
project that is two weeks behind schedule, and you just got a call from the
client, who is going to fly in from Chicago to visit the project.
You have heard that project team
members are loudly arguing with each other and one of the primary technical
leaders of the project is home with the flu. The project fell behind because a
major subcontractor did not perform, a computer virus hit the office computers,
and three project team members failed the random drug test on Monday.
Below are some questions that can
help you formulate your response. The questions below are suggestions and your
response should not be limited to those questions only?
How do you mitigate the current
risk?
What can you do to bring the
project back on track?
What can you do to prevent further
delays to the project?
What can you do to reassure the
client that the project will be delivered on time and/or that there will not be
further delays?
What can you do to create a more
cohesive team?
Would you replace team members in
the middle of the project? Yes/No? Why?
What processes can you implement
(working with HR) to prevent further personnel issues?
What can you do to resolve the
issues with the subcontractor?
