Assessment Description
Overview
For this module, you will manage a group business project from initiation to completion.
Throughout your project, you need to reflect on your own abilities and skills to manage
the business project, as well on your own performance and contributions within the
group.
What is reflection?
According to Gibbs (1988) reflection is about evaluating experiences, and analysing the
reasons why certain events occur: reflection allows us to learn from the experience and to
improve or refine our performance if the situation was to arise again.
Gibb’s reflective cycle (below) highlights 6 steps for reflecting on situations, starting with
‘description’.
Submission You are expected to produce a reflective log/journal on the process of
managing your project. A suggested layout has been included on the following page as a
guide. Within your reflections, you are required to meet the following learning outcomes:
• Demonstrate knowledge of project skills for management (LO1) – it is
recommended that, for one of your reflective accounts, you identify different skills
that are required to be a project manager and you reflect on how your own skills
compare.
• Demonstrate the ability to reflect critically on their own performance
and contribution throughout the duration of a task or project (LO6) – it is
recommended that you continue to do this regularly, throughout your project. You
also need to ensure you include a final reflection on the group presentation
(assessment 3) where you reflect on your own contribution to the presentation.
• Evaluate all aspects of the project, including outcomes in relation to stated
objectives, own learning and performance (LO7) – it is recommended that you
continue to do this regularly, throughout your project.
This reflective account has a word limit 1200 words (+/- 10%) excluding bibliography,
references and tables. This reflective account needs to be word-processed, with a
minimum of 1.5 line-spacing, and should include support from academic/professional
sources and correctly referenced using APA Referencing
