PROJECT (Written Report and Oral Presentation)

Project Overview
This project will consist of a brief proposal, a presentation and a written project report. You will select a public sector organization (local or international) and analyze its human resource policies and practices as it relates to a particular human resource challenge or issue. The chosen organization (s) could be one in which you were previously employed or one where a colleague or friend is currently employed. The individuals (s) you interview can be a line manager, a human resource manager in government or head of a nonprofit organization, for instance.
In the project, you will assume the role of an outside consultant to describe what the organization is doing in terms of human resource management. Note any major changes that may have taken place in the past or currently within the organization and then try to explain whether the organization’s human resource policies and practices are consistent with each other and the strategy and/or mission of that organization. You should also highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the organization’s current human resource management policies or practices.
The final part of your report should focus on changes that the organization may need to consider prior to implementation for success. And, if little or no changes are required, discuss what kinds of challenges that the organization is likely to encounter in the future.
This project will give you the opportunity to apply course concepts and provide an understanding of potential barriers to the implementation of such concepts. This is an important part of the assignment as it demonstrates why some theories are not always applicable or easily implemented within the public sector, especially in government.
Your research should include interviewing a manager or managers at a public organization (government or nonprofit) of your choice. Ensure that the manager (s) you interview understand the objectives of your project and the information that you collect is for a subsequent class presentation.
Project report (20 points):
Your project report should be no more than 10 pages in length (including a bibliography), typewritten, double-spaced, 12-font in Times Roman and thoroughly edited before submission. Your assigned textbook and case studies and selected reading will only be some of your sources of reference for completing this assignment. You should use at least three (3) more outside sources of reference in your analysis along with the proper citations. Possible sources may include Academy of Management Executive, HR Magazine, Harvard Business Review and other journals, magazines, websites and books related to human resource management.
Ensure that your citations and references are in accordance with the format as per the American Psychological Association.
All team project reports are due during the final class of Week 7, Class B on April 27, 2023.
Project presentation (15 points):
You will have 15 minutes to present your project to the class. Your presentation can include the use of a combination of audiovisual aids such as overhead slides, video, and audience participation. However, this is your presentation, so you may elect to use whatever visual aids that you deem necessary to best convey your message. Presentation tips to which all teams should adhere include the following:
• Do not read your presentation. Reading is not presenting.
• You can use note cards as references but do not read verbatim from the notes during the presentation.
• Avoid placing too much information on any slide
