(Your paper should be FIVE complete typed and double-spaced pages (using 12-point Times New Roman font). You must have 5 typed pages for the body of the paper (remember to include relevant headings to break the paper up into sections). You are required to have a cover page and a References page (this must be double-spaced per APA guidelines). The cover page and References page are in addition to the minimum 5-page body of the paper. You still need a total of 7-8 references for the paper. Professional journal articles should account for 4 of the references.
Here are some things to keep in mind as you write your research papers:
Write in 3rd person because it is a Research Paper and it should be objective – avoid use of “I,” “we,” “you,” and “your” in the paper. This is a formal paper, unlike the Interview Paper.
Be sure to double-space your References on your Reference page throughout per APA style guidelines and alphabetize your references by the first author’s last name.
Be sure to properly cite in-text and cite ALL references if you included them on your References page.
You should not have any references cited in-text that are not on your References list.
When you cite in-text, cite the authors’ names, not journal titles. Follow the guidelines in the APA handout that is attached along with the research paper directions (under “Assignments” – Research Paper).
Ensure that your Turnitin percentage is 20% or less (you can submit it multiple times and check your percentage in trying to reduce it).
It should be at least 5 pages of text, and the cover page and References are additional beyond the 5 pages of text.
Make sure you have the paper broken into headings per the instructions (including an Introduction and Conclusion) and page numbers in the upper right hand corner of each page.
Always proofread your paper before submitting.
