case study
lisa is a 83-year-old lady I
looked after while on placement. Betty suffered from a stroke. After suffering
from the stroke Betty struggled with self-care and normal day to day activities.
In the morning at the start of the shift, I would assist lisa with her
personal care, sometimes she would just have a bed bath due to body pains and
sometimes she would request for a shower which I could assist her with until
she had been reviewed by physio. lisa was also diabetic and at home she
struggled with maintaining it. After her personal care, I would go round with
the nurse giving medications and after I assisted lisa with her breakfast. she
struggled to eat at times but with some encouragement she would eventually eat. lisa remained in hospital for a while her health seemed to deteriorate due to
other medical conditions. Doctors decided to stop all treatment and just make
her comfortable. she spent the last of her days with family around her till the
day she passed away.
