Public Policies and Vulnerable Populations

In this assignment, you will investigate public policies related to the vulnerable population you are focusing on for this course. These policies may be local, state, or national initiatives. It is important to focus on how policies can reduce health disparities and improve the level of care related to the needs of vulnerable populations.
Upon successful completion of these activities, you will be able to:
Identify public policies that target disparities among vulnerable groups.
Discuss the efficacy of nursing interventions and strategies to promote the health of a selected vulnerable or impoverished aggregate.
Evaluate local, state and national responses to vulnerability and poverty.

Prepare to discuss the following prompts:
Identify and describe public policies that address the unique needs of the vulnerable population (The Homeless). These policies may be legislative local, state, or national health policies, or standards, or initiatives related to this population.
Describe how these policies aim to reduce health disparities, improve access to care, or impact key health determinants for the vulnerable population.
