PUBLIC SPEEKING

PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS DISCUSSION , NO PLAIGIARISM.

Growing up I battled with the fear of public speaking. For instance, when I would present projects in class as a child it would intimidate me, not only because of the anxiety I had from speaking to an audience but also the fact that I had an accent because English was not my first language growing up. Two fears I had and am still working on to further improve my public speaking skills are not sounding like I am knowledgeable about a certain or specific subject because of the way I sometimes may rush through my words and not organize my thoughts before I speak or making fun of the way I speak or sound. A preventative measure for the fear of not being knowledgeable through the rush of processing my thought would be, before having to publicly speak go over points of what I want to say and touch on so I can know which topic I will be speaking on at each time. The on-the-spot remedy for that fear would be to take a moment when I feel as though I may be rushing through my words and losing the attention of the audience, to take a deep breath and slow down to gather my thoughts together. For my second fear, a preventative measure would be to mentally prepare myself prior to speaking and remind myself that others’ opinions in that aspect pertaining to me does not affect me and to not let it get in my head and ruin my train of thought and the public speaking of a certain subject that I am prepared for. An on-the-spot remedy for this fear would be to ignore all outside surroundings, facial expressions, and side comments and to keep pushing through and not letting it sidetrack me from doing what I need to do and accomplishing it.
