It is for a History course, Decolonization: History through film. The main source for the paper is based on the film
‘The Quiet American’ from 2002 directed by Phillip Noyce. We have been directed to watch this film and then choose something of
interest to investigate further – related to the history of southeast Asia and the Vietnam war, but we are able to take the paper in a
further direction/research of our choice. I want the paper to pick up on the fetishization and objectification of Asian women
(main character, Phuong) that is present and in the film, and bring it to a contemporary conversation of this topic.
