You will be writing about the topic of “race”.
You will be required to incorporate a minimum of three in-text citations
(specific examples) from the Stephen J. Gould article (article 8) and to also utilize a minimum of another
three in-text citations (specific examples) from the Marvin Harris article (article 9). Furthermore, you
will also be expected to cite at least three examples from the video. Therefore, in total you must
discuss nine examples in your course paper: three from the Gould article, three from the Harris
article and three from the video. You will be required to incorporate a minimum of three in-text citations

1. In the first half of your paper, you will be discussing nine examples (three from the Gould
reading, three from the Harris reading and three from the film), discussing why
anthropologists view the belief that the human population is divisible into biologically
distinct, separate races is a problem. You need to discuss the evidence that most of today’s
anthropologists use to argue that there is just one single human race, rather than separate
human races from a biological standpoint. Or, to put it another way, you need to discuss why
most anthropologists today consider the belief that there are separate human “races” as
biologically false. Instead, there is, from a biological perspective, only one human race. In
order to do this you will be using the nine examples you have chosen from the two articles
and the film.
2. However, in the second half of your paper you will be discussing why you believe that the
concept of “race” and the socially popular view that humans do actually form separate human
races (even though most scientists today argue the opposite) is still widely accepted in our
society today. Unlike the first half of this assignment, the second half of the paper is going to
be largely based on your own observations, thoughts and experiences. And you can
definitely refer to your own life experiences when writing up the second part of this paper.1. In the first half of your paper, you will be discussing nine examples (three from the Gould
