The first research paper should examine how the concepts of race and racism affect economic systems. Given the nature of the topic some discussion should be developed around the political economy of social systems (particularly focusing on the United States). Correlating the behavior of racism with other forms of social constructs, e.g., caste, class, and gender-based systems is appropriated. Students should state clearly how “race” based systems are used to determine the distribution of income and wealth and how racism as a behavioral mechanism is used for this purpose. Examples of these policies should be presented.
The paper should be between ten (10) and Fifteen (15) papers long, EXCLUDING footnotes and references that should be put in a separate section. I do not concentrate on writing styles, though I consider the Chicago Manual of Style a good reference. You should footnote material drawn from other sources to avoid plagiarism.
You are required to develop an outline for your paper. I will give you instructions on the due date for the outline and how to construct one.
