Reflect on your development from infancy to the present moment. Based on Urie Brofenbrenner’s ecological approach, our development is influenced by multiple factors, or systems, which are close to us or very distant. Write a reflection of at least 2 pages on how your family, peers, school, teachers, economic, social, cultural, political, educational and historical contexts supported or hindered your physical, intellectual, academic, emotional development. Analyze how the present pandemic influenced from a global distance our way of life and development: social distancing, safer at home, instruction on line, economy shut down for non-essential activities are only some examples.
1. Analyze all components of the ecological model: microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem, chronosystem, technology, global system.
2. Give specific examples from your personal experiences and describe how and what you have learned from each of the socialization agents: parents, peers, religion, school, media, ethnic group, main American culture. Reflect on your development from infancy to the present moment. Remember you are the only expert on the topic.
3. Describe how historic events, political events, technology influenced your development since the time you were born. Search the year of your birth and find out what events happened in our country, place you were born or in the world that influenced your development.
4. Use concepts and terminology learned in the course to describe and analyze the factors that influenced the development of your personality and the creation of the unique individual you are now.
5. Use correct grammar and spelling. Use full paragraphs. Check the clarity of your statements.
6. The essay to be at least 2 pages in length.
7. Write a strong conclusion about all influencing factors of your development to demonstrate your deep understanding of the ecological model.
