– Your answer must demonstrate an understanding and application of standpoint drawing on Collins’ work on Black Feminist Thought.
-You will apply your understanding through your reflection on your choices and consideration of consequences.
MAKING AND SUPPORTING AN ARGUMENT
-Your introductory paragraph must include a clear thesis statement explaining the change you chose and the reason you chose it.
-Subsequent parts of your essay will draw on class readings as evidence to support your argument.
-Throughout the essay you will defend your choice by explaining the consequences of your choice, weighing alternatives, and reflecting on your thinking while drawing on evidence from class readings to support your case.
Suggested Essay Organization:
Introduction explaining Olamina’s circumstances and ending with a clear thesis statement about the change you would make and its impact.
Body Paragraph 1: Explain the positive potential of the change you propose.
Body Paragraph 2: Address limitations and alternatives
-what are the potential negative outcomes? What aspects of her circumstances would remain unchanged? What alternative changes might you consider?
-Throughout body paragraphs 1 & 2 Demonstrate and apply intersectional thinking and use an additional class source (in addition to Crenshaw) to support your argument about the consequences of the change you would make.
