As you are in your YLI, you will be teaching a variety of lessons for a variety of your courses. For this assignment, you will teach a lesson to either a small group (5 or more students) or the full class. In your lesson plan, you will have predetermined strategies in place to demonstrate differentiation strategies. This can also be a collection of differentiation that you have used in multiple lessons.. For this assignment, you will submit a two-page reflection containing the following:
A detailed description of the differentiation strategies used (be specific)
Why you chose these strategies
How successful these strategies were with your students
What you might do differently in the future for differentiation and why?
I am teaching 1st graders and you can use any differentiation strategies for a lesson on subtraction of tens. I have no IEP’s or ELL’s. I do have 3 struggling readers, so any suggestions for differentiation would great to add into this reflection paper. I used ten sticks and ones cubes, 100’s chart and counters for manipulatives. I also pre recorded more rigorous math lessons for my students who grasped the concept fairly quickly and was able to complete the assignment correctly.
