Overview:
This is the first Reflective exercise. You have chosen a country/community (Kenya) and a specific health issue as the focus for the final paper. Reflective exercise #1 (Module 4) and #2 (Module 5) will provide the opportunity for additional thinking about the healthcare focus. You will reflect on the new information gained about healthcare in the chosen country/community.
See the Instructional Materials in Module 4 for some guidance in reflective thinking.

Choose ONE of the identified health concerns/healthcare issues that will focus on the Informative and Persuasive paper. Describe why you chose this issue over the others.
Infant and under-five mortality in Kenya can be used as the focus for the informative and persuasive paper. This health issue results from an array of factors that should be easy to control. Ensuring the safety of the mothers, the infants, and their unborn babies involves a set of multi-discipline coordination. Besides, this is a global issue, with 29 reported deaths out of every 100 births. This number is significantly lower in the United States alone, with a reported 5.7 deaths in every 1000 (Burnett-Zieman et al., 2021). However, the factors that lead to this issue are the same globally; congenital disabilities, pregnancy complications, preterm births, sudden infant death syndrome, and injuries. The extent of these deaths only differs due to the social and healthcare structure between Kenya and the US. Therefore, infant mortality is an effective pick-out from among the healthcare concerns.
