Regulating Privacy in the Context of Information Technology

Many have said that privacy will be the next great frontier of personal rights protection (or assault). Why is privacy important, where do we get such rights, why does the Internet change our traditional notions of privacy? Analyze the following scenario: an employee using company computers sends email that is later retrieved when the employee sues the company. Is there a reasonable expectation of privacy? What difference if the computer used was purchased by the employee but the email was sent during work hours? What additional facts or changes in your assumptions would alter your analysis? Ethically, what are the arguments pro and con for an employer monitoring electronic communication? What are federal requirements for email retention?
The requirements:
My expectation is that this assignment will be a minimum of 1,000 words, written in your own words and not a cut-and-paste or direct copy from some other source. Because you will use the words of others, you must include citations and references, properly formatted (see “Academic Integrity and Reference List Instructions” in the Key Course Documents folder). You cannot use Wikipedia as a source.

The title page is page “0”; and the page number does not print on the title page.

The assignment is to be submitted by the due date in Microsoft Word or as a PDF.
Begin the assignment by retyping the question or research topic that I posed as the subject of your paper (single spaced), followed by your text (double spaced). At the end of the paper, list your references.
