Rein-forcers in Your Life

1. Reinforcement plays a key role in our lives and the lives of our students, clients, colleagues, friends, and family. Think back on YOUR life. Identify the rein forcers that were likely the most important in YOUR life at the following ages: 6 months, 3 years, 10 years, 16 years, 18 years, and your current age. For each, state WHY you think that rein-forcer was the most important for you at the time in your life. 2. Imagine that you are a teacher or behavioral consultant in a special education high school classroom. One of your colleagues approaches you and says that she has no idea how to get Kylie to stay on-task during math. You suggest using a rein-forcer. Describe how you would explain to your colleague how to use reinforcement to increase on-task behavior in the classroom. Be detailed in your response.
