For this assignment, you will provide an example from a popular media source (e.g. TV show, movie, song, fictional book, etc) that demonstrates a concept we learned about Evolutionary Psychology.
Note that you cannot use “evolutionary psychology” in general as your concept; you need to pick one specific concept that we learned about.
Instructions:
1. Explain the specific relationship concept in your own words.
Do not just copy an explanation from the slides or textbook; that would be plagiarism.
2. Provide a reference for the relationship concept. You must reference either the lecture slides, textbook, or a journal article.
For lecture slides, list the specific presentation and which slide(s) are being referenced.
For the textbook, list which page(s) describe the concept.
For journal articles, provide an APA-style reference.
3. Provide a written description of your popular media example.
4. Explain why the media example is a good demonstration of the relationship concept.
5. Provide a way to view the media example, if possible (e.g. a YouTube clip)
If you are referencing a show on a streaming service and thus cannot provide a direct link, you should list the name of the show, the season and episode number, and the time stamp of the clip.
Note: The purpose of this assignment is for you to think about the concepts you have learned in class and tie them to media examples. For this reason, you are not allowed to use media examples that other people have posted online as examples of relationship concepts. Instead, you must think of your own original examples.
E.g. you are not allowed to go to YouTube and search “similarity attraction effect” and then use whatever videos come up in the search results.
You are also not allowed to use an educational science video about a concept.
If you use other people’s examples of relationship concepts, you will get zero credit for the assignment.
