Religion in U.S. Culture

In his address to the American Academy of Religion, sociologist Robert Bellah argued that there has remained an “enormously powerful” (Bellah p. 539) common culture in America that has been shaped by religions. Do you agree or disagree (or some other combination of the two) with Bellah’s argument?
