Pune with an estimated population of 7.4 million as of 2020 is the eighth most populous city in India and is currently served by Pune International airport. A new international airport is needed due to the growing demand for air traffic into Pune and also because of the limited expansion options available at Pune International airport.

In 2016, then Chief Minister for the state of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis announced a new international airport for the city of Pune and this greenfield airport would be named Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport. However, because of land acquisition issues, the construction of the airport has been delayed.

In August 2020, current Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Anantrao Pawar declared the construction of this airport as a high-priority project and asked the district administration to expedite land acquisition at Purandar.

Prepare a proposal on the development of this new airport. The proposal must include a drawing of the airport layout and detailed analyses of the following:
Land available for the proposed airport site
Aircraft types that will be operating at the airport
Runway(s)
Taxiway network
Apron capacity and detailed layout
Passenger forecast
Terminal configuration of the terminal building(s)
Terminal facility requirements
Airport surface access and landside facilities
Aircraft refuelling and Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting facilities

State all the assumptions made and provide justifications for your proposal.
