Reported Press Release (Announcement of News)

For this assignment, you will demonstrate your mastery of press release writing by writing a reported announcement press release.
This must be original reporting: You need to gather a quotation from a source. Please don’t steal a quote from a published source.
Choose one of the following for a one-page press release:
Write a press release announcing the news on behalf of a club or organization you belong to or work with. Get a quote from the organizers or organization leaders.
OR

Write a press release on your own behalf to your hometown news outlet (a newspaper, television station, alumni newsletter, for example) announcing an achievement, prize, team membership, or something newsworthy that you have accomplished. You may offer a quote of your own–you speaking, for example. (I am from Shanghai, China)
OR

Adopt an organization and write a press release announcing the news on their behalf. You need to interview someone from this organization to get a quote about whatever their news is. Don’t take a quote from an already published press release or other organizational material. Reported means that YOU gather it.

Please include:
A quote: Newsworthiness
A good single viewpoint, but a sense of professionalism and restraint in over-promotion.

Your press release/public statement should:
Be credible and trustworthy, with restraint in regard to self-promotion and overly inflated self-flattery.
Demonstrate news style (lede/quotations, structure, objective fact-oriented development) for advocacy. Offer news, not self-promotion.
Demonstrate your understanding of the audience and purpose.
Have a clear timely focus, with a time element.
Include a headline (and a contact name and email address/phone) — for reporters who wish to reach out — especially if the press release is emailed.
Include correct and accurate grammar, punctuation, and source citation.
