Historical research project: To write a historical research book like Homegoing, the author had to have done significant historical research–about Ghana, the slave trade, and American history.
Select an area of research in the book that you would like to explore in more detail and provide an organized research essay exploring that research topic using an argumentative thesis statement. A thesis such as “slavery was terrible” is not much of an argument, since no one can credibly debate that point. The more specificity you get through your research, the easier it will be to come up with an argument that is more controversial, or just not so familiar. Try to narrow your focus as much as possible so you don’t get too much information.
