Research Essay: Shakespare’s Hamlet & Sophocles Antigone

RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT:
For this short research project, we will do the following:

***READING link for Hamlet> https://www.gutenberg.org/files/1524/1524-h/1524-h.htm
Antigone reading can be found in “uploaded files”

NOTE: Please be very detailed in research and elaborate throughly. Dive deeper and give more than a “surface level response.” Times New Roman, Double spaced, 12 font, Four (4) full pages. Pleaase check spelling and gramer!

First step:
Please think about a topic, theme, question, or aspect of one of the plays that you want to research. For example, you can research the psychology of Hamlet, including the ways that many discuss mourning in the play, or how “madness” is viewed, how Antigone in the tragedy Antigone represents protest and rebellion, how Antigone is viewed as a feminist figure, etc., etc. We want to come up with a question that we want to find out about, so we want this to be as specific as possible.

Second step:
We are then asked to find at least 2 TO 3 SOURCES about this topic/question/theme that you are investigating—you can certainly find/discuss more than 2 or 3 if you want or/and if the sources are short or/and if you want more perspectives.

Please use the library to find your resources:
You can use books, journals, newspapers, and magazines. They can be considered EXTRA sources if you want video or film sources.
You can use the internet to find more info on a topic/question, including the titles of sources on a Wiki page that you can then find or use.
Just remember, if you find something online, make sure that you are clear about whether the source is reliable or reputable/well-known, etc.

Our goal is to summarize the sources:
What we found in them, how they help us understand the topic/question, what is important about the ideas we notice, and how they help us interpret the play/parts of the play.
**We also want to find at least 2 QUOTES FROM EACH SOURCE to discuss in order to explain these ideas.
We will then want to use quotes from the play that connect to these ideas from the sources—we want to discuss how those examples from the play reveal or highlight the question/topic we investigated AND how these examples connect to the quotes from our sources.

The objective:
Is to explain how the examples you found in the play connect to the sources, specifically showing how the sources help to understand these examples from the play.

As with any essay, please be sure to explain in your introduction what you are researching—be very specific about the ideas/concepts you are reflecting upon.
