Research methods – critical article review

Critically review the article with special emphasis on the below
– Critical review of the literature review –
o Does it provide a comprehensive and critical coverage of the knowledge that already exists on the topic and engage critically and widely with the existing research. Is this evident in the quality and number of references used?
o Does the discussion provide a clear and convincing rationale for the study?
o Does the literature review provide the theoretical foundations of the research undertaken and locate the review in a methodological position? Are you able to determine the philosophical position followed in this article/study? How would the study look if a different paradigm were to be used?
– Do the authors provide sufficient detail on the methodological aspects of the study and the data collection technique(s) used? Are the data collection technique(s) compatible with the choice of the research paradigm?
– What is the problem statement of this paper – is it clearly noted?
– Can you identify the “So What” questions and if so, have they been answered satisfactorily?
– How has the aspect of ethics in research been covered in this study? Has anything been missed out?
– To what extent do the authors have a reflexive approach and how, if at all, they approach bias and axiology in this study.
