Research Paper and Video Presentation (100 points- 50 for paper, 50 for video):
The purpose of this assignment is to research a disability, impairment, disease, or syndrome that may impact someone’s life educationally, socially, and/or physically. There are 2 parts to this assignment. The first part will require you to use research (not Wikipedia) to put together a cohesive fact-based research paper. Each student needs to respond to my announcement by replying on what disability they plan on researching for approval to prevent classmates from selecting the same topic. After the research paper is completed, part 2 will entail making a 5 to 7-minute video presentation outlining a brief overview of the cause of the disability, characteristics of the disability, how it impacts learning, overall behavior, and teaching methods to consider. There will be a post labeled VIDEO PRESENTATION where you will upload your video. No powerpoint is needed for this video presentation. You can record yourself with your phone and email it to yourself to upload.
Assignment requirements:
Review the research on the topic you selected. The paper should include:
Documenting the background, history of the disability, and causes of the disability
Discussing any medical advancements, cure (if any), or current research being done.
What does the research entail (including cost).
Address how the topic impacts others such as caregivers, family, and community.
In your concluding paragraph, state your opinion and summarize you overall impressions with the information gathered.
Add a reference page and cite references within the body of the paper.
Use at least 2 references. You may use your textbook as one reference.
Microsoft Word document: with title page, no more than 2-3 pages; 12 font; professional written format without errors in spelling, syntax, sentence structure and paragraphing. Number each page..
