An introduction with a clever hook, 1-2 sentences to introduce the evaluated work (name the article, the author, where it came from–if you know), and your thesis. Your thesis should include your opinion on how effective or persuasive the essay is and a preview of the evidence you will use to support your opinion.
Body paragraphs that expand on your evidence. Make sure that you do spend some time giving information on the essay’s main points before you put in your evidence. Be sure to include clear examples, such as textual evidence. If you know how to use MLA, please do so in this paper. If you don’t, you can include the author’s name at the end of anything quoted. Good body paragraph format includes a topic sentence, examples, explanations of the examples, and a transition sentence to the next paragraph.
A conclusion that restates your thesis and sums up your main points. Leave the reader with a strong thought.
