You will be completing a four-five page research paper on a topic of your choosing. You will need to cite from at least five sources using in-text citations that you analyze and discuss throughout your paper. You can use more than five if applicable, but five is the minimum.
So what is a research paper?
A research paper is a piece of academic writing that provides analysis, interpretation, and argument based on in-depth independent research. The research paper will contain a thesis. In order to create a thesis statement, you will need to start with a guiding question. The thesis will be the answer to the guiding question. You should learn your position/the answer to the guiding question as you conduct research and learn more about your topic.
Research papers are similar to academic essays, but they are usually longer and more detailed assignments, designed to assess not only your writing skills but also your skills in scholarly research. Writing a research paper requires you to demonstrate a strong knowledge of your topic, engage with a variety of sources, and make an original contribution to the debate.
