The supplementary reading activities for this week focus on three areas that are significant for our overall understanding of curriculum evaluation and development and for our efforts to ensure a curricular program that leads to improved instruction for all students.
The article “Art and Science of Teaching/High Expectations for All” extends our discussion about whether teaching is an art or a science, or both, and the role that expectations play in that process. “Show Us What Homework’s For” is especially relevant to chapter 7, Assigning Homework and Providing Practice, from Classroom Instruction That Works. The video (Attached below), “Response to Intervention-Data Based Decision Making” is relevant to our ongoing discussion of the role and process of reviewing and using all of the student performance data that is available to us, again for the purpose of improving instruction for all students.
