The subject I’ll be introducing to you is smart technology. I’ve been interested in this breakthrough ever since it started since it goes in hand in my area of work. My house is fully covered in smart technology from the vacuum, lawnmower, lights, temperature control, outdoor cameras, and door to name a few. This is nothing new and has been around for years, but its capabilities then was subpar. It has really made my life easier and might say I have become reliant on it. The term smart originally came from the Self Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology acronym. With the help of Bluetooth and wifi technology, it allowed previously inanimate commodities to receive input and act autonomously. The driving force behind this is the increased digitization of our society. More and more devices today have the capability to connect to the internet.
Science has rapidly progressed with this emerging technology. With the pandemic restrictions, automation and artificial intelligence have inflamed these self-driving networks. With a lot of gadgets nowadays with the capability of internet on things, people want to be able to control their devices over the network. Emerging high-speed internet allows anyone to check their devices without having to be at home or at the office. Advancement in the telecom networks allows more capacity data allowing people to interact with their devices in real-time.
This pandemic has changed our society forever. Employers are allowing more flexibility for their workers. People can work miles away from the comfort of their homes using apps and work as if they’re still there. Smart technology can greatly help the cities of the future by saving and optimizing energy uses. The demand for electric vehicles has also propelled the growth of devices with smarter technologies. With movies highlighting the great aspect of smart homes, it is no wonder it has started to take off. Privacy has been the main issue for these as companies can monitor everything about you without you even knowing it.
The advancement of smart technology is progressing at a rapid pace and it does not look like it’s slowing down. Big companies such as Google and Amazon are heavily implementing their artificial intelligence in their devices. This technology greatly allows one to have more freedom and multi-task. Though companies are beginning to charge with monthly subscriptions the cloud services of these devices. Not every citizen may be able to afford these monthly expenditures. Other countries with lower bandwidth capacities will not have the luxury of this technology. Their government may have to start implementing policies to help advance their infrastructures or risk falling behind more advanced countries.
