The textbook contains some useful guidelines for APA citation format, but the bible for this stuff is the spiral-bound Handbook of Technical Writing, pp. 125-131. It is vital to this assignment to meet the parameters, and one key parameter is complete and correct citation. The existence of these pages, plus what I tell you in class, will leave you no excuse to mess it up.
Your submission should annotate at least six sources (never mind what the textbook says: I want your research moving forward at all times) that you have located through your independent research, and at least three of those sources should be scholarly ( = derived from peer-reviewed academic journals or specialized academic books published by a university press). Each source should be listed in the appropriate citation style and be followed with at least 100 words of your independent and original assessment of the source and its value to your research project. Please specify what type of source it is: primary or secondary, and if secondary, which of the FOUR types of secondary source it is. (NOTE: the book only lists THREE types. This is a grave defect in the book. As usual, follow ME and you can’t go wrong.)
Incorrect or incomplete or unalphabetized or improperly alphabetized citations–or unduly brief annotations–will damage or even destroy your grade; if simply performed according to instructions, however, this is the easiest A in the course.
(SHOULD-BE REDUNDANT) WARNING: Do not trust algorithms–from RU Libraries–that purport to format sources in APA style for you. These often produce botched citations. YOU MUST DO THE WORK OF PROOFREADING YOURSELF, WITH THE HELP OF THE HANDBOOK, AS HAVE STUDENTS FOR GENERATIONS BEFORE YOU. Technology is no substitute for your own critical intelligence and attention to detail. For example, if you give me the name of an aggregator like Elsevier or EBSCO Host instead of a proper journal title, you will have committed a serious error and be penalized for it. Unfortunately, I cannot grade the library’s algorithm–I would grade it harshly!
