Now that you are familiar with Lois Tyson’s Critical Theory Today text, I would like you to use one criticism, other than the one you presented in class, to examine Toni Morrison’s Beloved. Use particular and essential frameworks of the criticism to illustrate how Morrison’s novel can be interpreted through that lens. For example, if you are using psychoanalytic criticism then capture the essence of the criticism such as, the unconscious, defenses, anxiety, dreams. etc. to explain Morrison’s work.
For example, you may examine a character in the novel who may be illustrating psychoanalytic traits or tendencies.

Select multiple quotes/passages from your sources; each passage should reflect and speak to the main claim/thesis of your paper.
Use the quote/passage to illustrate the point you wish to make. The passages and quotes should always be used as evidence about whatever point you want to make. Then after you write your passage you will need to write commentary. This commentary is also known as the analysis.
The last paragraphs should be a “discussion” or “conclusion” about how the literary criticism is juxtaposed with the Morrison text. You need to consider and write about how your sources come together, how the criticism speaks about the subject, and how the criticism responds to Morrison’s work.
