STANDARDS COMPARISON
Purpose: The purpose of this assingment is to compare three sets of standards to determine the uniqueness of each set of standards and identify the standard, which is the most strict or the most restrictive.
Method: Each student is given three sets of standards: Conditions of Participation (C of P), Illinois Hospital Licensure (IHL), and the Joint Commission. Students will compare each of the standards and provide answers to the questions on the assignment sheet.

Conditions of Participation (C of P): Federal Standards for mandatory compliance by hospitals who receive Medicare and/or Medicaid reimbursement.
Illinois Hospital Licensure (IHL): Mandatory standards to operate a hospital in the state of Illinois.
Joint Commission: Voluntary compliance with standards to demonstrate quality services are provided and to insure payment by third party payers.
INSTRUCTIONS
