According to Maslow, self-actualization is the basic,
inherent motive for self-improvement, for becoming what you are capable of
becoming. Maslow suggested that being engaged in efforts toward self-actualization
represents the height of psychological health. He also estimated that only
about one percent of the population is truly self-actualized.
Write a tribute about a someone in your life whom you
believe to have achieved self-actualization, highlighting why you believe this
person has attained this goal, what characteristics this person possesses that
enabled him/her to achieve self-actualization, and what you appreciate about
this person.
For the second part of this assignment, reflect on the
following questions:
What
emotions surfaced as you wrote this tribute?
How
does it feel to share this tribute with the reader (your instructor)?
Will
you share this tribute with the individual you celebrated? Why or
why not?
In total, your paper should be at least three pages in
length (750 word minimum), following APA-formatting guidelines.
