It is at this stage that you arrive at the crime scene
For your project you are to assume the role of the senior detective. Using what you have learned from this course, you must conduct a thorough investigation of this event. You are required to document in great detail, each step you take. You may use any of the assets at your disposal (detectives, forensic unit, etc.). Your approach should be systematic, one step at a time. Evaluate each aspects of the case and determine what needs to be done. If you collect any evidence, give a detailed description of what it is, why it is important, how you collect it and what you do with it. If you interview any witnesses you must identify the witness (explain why you interviewed them) and list the questions you asked and why. You should try to identify any source that can help you put together the pieces of what happened and why. Explain what you did from the time of arrival until you released the crime scene. Finally, explain your theory on what happened, how it happened, and what actions you took to close the case.
Remember, this should be a very detailed account of your investigation. Your “report” must be typed, double-spaced. You may use whatever format you wish as long as it makes sense and I can understand it. I would suggest you write the whole paper in “chronological order” (in the order that you do things.) Just a suggestion but I find it easier for me to remember things. If you do a thorough job, this paper should be at least 3-5 pages in length.
