For this week’s assignment, you will pick an argumentative topic for your research paper. An argumentative topic should take a strong stance
and seek to persuade someone to come to your side.
Notice these are in question form — you should not use the question form for your thesis. You should choose a side or strong stance, based on the question. The question is simply to get you thinking about a topic.
For the assignment: Write your thesis statement in a .doc file, include a map if possible with your three MAIN arguments, and then write 2-3
short paragraphs (about 1/2 to 1 page) about why you’re interested in the topic and why you find it important. You will use this topic
throughout all seven weeks of the course to develop a research paper.
