RQ: Should we be concerned about climate change?
The introduction will be structured as follows: background information, Research Question (RQ), and thesis. The rest of Section should provide the reader with a definition of your key term, clarifying examples, key historical events, and other essential background information and context on your topic.
In the development of the research:
1. Analyze or break down the debate happening on your topic in peer-reviewed journals and news sources. As your sources show, there are many experts and journalists answering your Research Question (RQ), and many of them disagree–they are in a conversation or debate through writing.
2. Argue your position on your topic. Offer the best answer to your RQ, and to make a strong argument that persuade the reader to accept your answer as valid.
3. Counterargument Paragraph(s): that anticipates potential objections from your readers and either accommodates or refutes those objections. This is often the second-to-last or penultimate paragraph, right before the conclusion.
