Discuss the following points regarding:
1 – Twain Use of Humour in order to depict 19th century reality: It seems that the humorous tone of Twain’s tales should be emphasized. It’s his devious way of telling the truth, of looking AT reality in the face and denouncing the myths on which the pretentious mentality of the Deep South is based.
2 – The social Classes that existed in AMERICA When Twain wrote his two main books : The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. How social class difference can be seen between North America and Deep South America during that time (where the two books take place).
3 – how the social status of the two protagonists (Tom and Huck) and how they both dispises the education forced on them.

When America was torn by the Civil War and increasingly individualistic, Mark Twain entertains and inspires dreams because he and we all long for this irreducible childhood, rebellious to the social conventions of adult life.
children or more exactly, teenagers (between childhood and boyhood, not yet dults) are rebels, resistant to discipline, rebellious by nature (as much as Indians and black slaves). Children ran away from education just like slaves did.
