Social Psychology Seminar Paper

The topic of your paper can be anything related to social
psychology. You may want to look through the References section at the
various journal article titles at the back of the textbook for ideas on a
topic.
The paper must be 8-10 pages long, double-spaced, 12 point font. You
do not need to have an abstract or title page. It should follow the
basic structure of a research paper, including introduction, conclusion,
references (etc.). Your paper should contain the following content:
Clear introduction of the focus and scope of your topic. Describe what areas of social psychology your paper will and will not focus
on. It should be very clear to me what exactly your topic is and what
aspects of it you will be discussing in your paper. (20 pts)
Summary of the research and connections.
Summarize the different studies/research/information you discovered.
You can go through each article one-by-one, or you can group them into
related topics. Provide transitions/links/connections between the different studies and what the research revealed. (40 pts)
Analysis of research studies. Analyze what you
found. Do the studies seem valid and reliable? How consistent are the
findings? Discuss how the studies contradict or support each other. Show
that you understand and have thought about the quality of the studies
you have found. Discuss possible areas of weakness or strength in the studies. (40 pts)
Application of theories/concepts/constructs.
Discuss which theories or concepts studied in the class apply best to
your findings and why. Apply at least 3 theories or concepts. Use the theory and its concepts to explain your findings. Show that you understand the theories or concepts by correctly applying them to the research. (40 pts)
Synthesis of information and conclusion.
Bring it all together. What does your research indicate about this
topic? Summarize your findings and discuss possible further areas of
research as well as any new questions that have arisen in your research.

References: Need to have at least 8 primary
sources, i.e. periodicals or journals, in APA format. These will have
volume numbers etc. associated with them. Web sites or wikipedia are not
valid sources! The textbook does not count as one of the 8 sources. (30
pts)
